Panel Discussion
As the pace of change in technology continues to increase, the need to keep up becomes more pressing. Technology is more than a set of tools; it is a system that organizes work, people, knowledge, and perspectives.
This panel examines emerging technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and machine learning from the lens of physiotherapy. How can we reflect critically on the ways technology is incorporated into both practice and education? Will physiotherapy as a profession be different? With change comes the opportunity to be intentional in terms of health outcomes, patient, provider, and learner experiences, as well as how we incorporate equity into the practice of physiotherapy.
Panellists: Kyla Alsbury-Nealy, PT, PhD(C), MscPT, Michael Lukacs, PT, PhD & Joanna MacDougall, BScPT, MScPT
Plenary
An Invitation to Care: Bridging Theory to Practice
To care for another means becoming a character in their stories. What does it mean to care well for the people we serve? How can we deepen our skills of care, the mental habits and practice activities that characterize good care? While we may have answers grounded in physiotherapy, this talk invites us to explore these questions anew through thinking with narrative and care-oriented social theories, including Sontag’s work on illness as metaphor and Mol’s Logic of Care.
Speaker: Patty Thille, PT, PhD, MA, BSc(PT)
