The Black Physiotherapy Association (BPTA) formed in January 2020. The BPTA’s mission is to enrich the health and wellness of Black physiotherapists and the communities we serve through fellowship, education, mentoring, and advocacy.

Ashley-Gaye Bridgemohan, PT, BSc PT

Ashley is dedicated physiotherapist with a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy, specializing in orthopedic rehab. She has rich history in diverse fields including cardiopulmonary and neurological rehabilitation and brings a holistic approach to patient care. 

Expertise:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: to assess and diagnose musculoskeletal conditions
  • Treatment Planning: to develop individualized treatment plans
  • Pain Management: including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and modalities to reduce pain
  • Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques, improve joint mobility, reduce stiffness, and enhance overall musculoskeletal function
  • Exercise Prescription: exercise programs to address muscle imbalances, strength and flexibility
  • Functional Rehabilitation

Andrea Meade, BScKin, BScPT, MEd(c)

Andrea is a Registered Physiotherapist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).  She provides Pelvic Health services to athletes of all ages at PHYSELITE, and counsels clinicians in her psychotherapy practice.

Cristian Renteria, MScPT, MPIA

Cristian Renteria is a physiotherapist with 22 years of experience, currently working as a physiotherapist at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre since 2017. He has been a member, in good standing of the CPO, the CPA and the OPA since 2013. His academic achievements include a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy (2002), a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto (2017) and Master’s in Public and International Affairs from York University (2021).
