Nora Young

Nora Young is an informed and ideal guide for anyone looking to understand — and plan for — the ever-changing, high-tech landscape. As the host and creator of Spark, CBC’s national radio show and podcast about technology and culture, and the author of The Virtual Self, Young demystifies technology and explores how it’s shaping and impacting our lives, as well as the larger world around us.

Young was the founding host of CBC Radio’s Definitely Not the Opera, where she often discussed topics related to new media and technology. Her work has also been featured in print, online, and television and she is also a committed hobby podcaster. Her favourite technology is her bicycle.

Patricia Thille, PT, PhD, MA, BSc(PT)

Patricia Thille is a hybrid scholar: a physiotherapist by first degree, sociologist by PhD. Dr. Thille works as a research-intensive Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba, with a core focus on improving equity in health care. She is the lead editor of a forthcoming critical physiotherapy anthology and sits on the executive of the international Critical physiotherapy Network.

Kyla Alsbury-Nealy, PT, PhD(C), MscPT

Kyla, a physical therapist with 9 years of private practice experience, is completing her PhD at the University of Toronto, focusing on improving referrals to community exercise programs. Intrigued by the potential applications of emerging technologies like XR and AI in rehab, she co-founded SilicoLabs, a Toronto startup that aims to make these technologies more accessible with their no-code platform.

Michael Lukacs, PT, PhD

Michael is a physiotherapist and is currently the Manager (interim) for physiotherapy at London Health Sciences Centre. He is also an Adjunct Research Professor at Western University. His research explores how innovative technologies can be used to explore mechanisms of spinal pain, challenging measures used within spinal pain, and critical theorization of physiotherapy practice elements.

Joanna MacDougall, BScPT, MScPT

Joanna is a physiotherapist and a professor in the OTA/PTA diploma program at Sault College where she is leading a pilot project exploring the use of virtual reality in post-secondary education. In 2023, she received the Ministers Award of Excellence for Future Proofing Ontario’s Students for her leadership in adapting programming to integrate virtual reality into anatomy education.

Zeina Abu-Jurji, MScPT, BHSc

Zeina graduated from the MScPT program at McMaster University. She works in an outpatient neurological physiotherapy clinic and her research interests include exploring justice-driven and anti-oppressive initiatives within physiotherapy. Zeina is involved in several EDI initiatives and has a strong passion for improving accessibility and quality of healthcare to equity-deserving communities.

Lisa has worked in a variety of healthcare settings and has over 20 years of clinical and administrative experience.

Fiona Campbell (she/her) is the Senior PT Advisor at the CPO. Fiona spent over 15 years working in clinical practice, before completing a research degree. Marcia Correale, BSc PT

Marcia Correale is the Provincial Clinical and Education Practice Lead for the RAC-LBP operations team and an Advanced Practice physiotherapist.  In response to COVID-19, Marcia co-developed the RAC-LBP Virtual Care Toolkit, including online resources and videos, to enable standardized virtual care across Ontario and improve the virtual care experience for patients and providers.

Emma Coulter, MSc(PT), BMSc

Emma graduated from the MSc PT program at McMaster University in August 2023. She is currently working at Motion physio, an outpatient clinic with a focus in helping clients with neurological and complex orthopedic injuries. Emma is passionate about the field of neurorehabilitation and continual learning and promotion of equitable, inclusive, and justice-driven practices in healthcare.

Harmandeep (Navi) Dhaliwal 

Navi is currently working as a physiotherapy Resident at Meadowlands physiotherapy and David Braley Sport Medicine Centre. Previously, he has worked in various locations as a physiotherapy assistant and as a case manager within the insurance industry. He selectively chose employment opportunities that would help to build value towards becoming a physiotherapist.

Brydne Edwards, OT Reg. (Ont.), PhD

Dr. Brydne Edwards is a Quality Improvement and Evaluation Lead at VHA Home Healthcare, with a Doctorate in Rehabilitation Science. Brydne is also an occupational therapist, with experience working with older adults with cognitive impairment. Through her clinical practice, she developed a passion for promoting preventative strategies to manage/prevent cognitive decline.

Brittany recently graduated from the Master of Science in Physical Therapy program at the University of Toronto. Kaylee Huynh, MSc PT

Kaylee Huynh graduated from Western University with an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2021, and then completed her Master of Science in physiotherapy at McMaster University in 2023. Soon after graduating, she began her career in orthopaedic physiotherapy. To further her clinical practice, Kaylee plans to take advanced training in acupuncture, manual therapy, and chronic pain.

Zeal Kadakia, MSc Student, BPT

Zeal Kadakia is a thesis-based master's student in the Rehabilitation Science program at McMaster University, and an internationally educated physiotherapist. She engages in research with a focus on clinical and outcome measurement. She has clinical experience as a physiotherapist in India, and as a physiotherapy assistant in Canada, and is in the process of Canadian physiotherapy licensure.

Caleb Perez, BSc Kin, PT student

Caleb Perez (he/him) is a transgender man and 1st-year Western University physiotherapy student. While pursuing a BSc in Kinesiology at McMaster University, he recognized knowledge gaps among students and instructors regarding care for transgender patients in rehabilitation settings. Caleb has subsequently presented interactive lectures on transgender healthcare to various audiences.

Codie Primeau, PhD, MPT, MSc, BSc

Dr. Codie Primeau (he/him) is a physiotherapist and Postdoc Fellow at Arthritis Research Canada and UBC. His works spans arthritis, pain, physiotherapy, and 2SLGBTQIA+ health. His grad work focused on knee osteoarthritis interventions and 2SLGBTQIA+ health education in physiotherapy. In his postdoc, he collaborates with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to co-develop research priorities for chronic pain.

Teresa Raso, MScPT

Teresa is a physiotherapy resident who graduated from Queen’s University in 2023. Teresa currently works at The physiotherapy Professionals, an orthopaedic clinic focused on manual therapy, and TheraBounce as a therapeutic trampoline specialist for paediatric conditions. Teresa is passionate about incorporating her knowledge in trauma-informed care to create a positive therapeutic environment.

Helen Razmjou is an Advanced Practice Physical Therapist at the Holland Centre and an Associate Scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute. She has received exceptional Achievement Awards in the category of Research, from Department of Physical Therapy, University of Toronto and three Silver Quill Awards in the Qualitative or Quantitative Research for outstanding original articles.

Alex Ruth, PT, MScPT, HBScKin

Alex is a queer physiotherapist working in Toronto at Strive physiotherapy and Sports Medicine. She is also a guest lecturer at the University of Toronto, and a co-founder of the Queer physiotherapy Collective.

Brooke Scheele, MScPT

Brooke is a physiotherapy resident who graduated from Queen’s University in 2023. Brooke currently splits her time working in an inpatient acute setting at Stratford General Hospital as well as The physio Nook, a clinic specializing in pelvic health and orthopaedic injuries. Brooke is passionate about applying a trauma informed care lens when working with patients in all settings.

Andrew Sedmihradsky, MHSc

Andrew Sedmihradsky is the founder of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy not for profit Max's Big Ride to End Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and a graduate of the MHSc in Translational Research program at the University of Toronto. He is also a parent to Max, a 13-year-old boy who wears AFOs.

Amanda Smart, PT, MSc PT

Amanda is an Operations Manager for SE Health at Mackenzie Health. She manages over 150 physiotherapists, physiotherapy residents, occupational therapists, therapy assistants, kinesiologists, and administrative staff across multiple Mackenzie Health sites. She is a past member of the OPA Board and a Past President of the OPA.

Meredith Smith is a physiotherapist and Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the Physical Therapy Department at the University of Toronto. Jill is a dual-degree candidate at McMaster University in the School of Rehabilitations Science. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading, and spoiling all the dogs in her life.

Kelsey Vickers is a physiotherapist working in private practice, with a special interest in neurological physiotherapy. Sarah Wojkowski, PT, PhD

Sarah Wojkowski, PT, PhD, holds the positions of Assistant Dean (physiotherapy), School of Rehabilitation Sciences, and Director, Program for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research (PIPER), Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University. Sarah has an interest in teaching and learning initiatives which include interprofessional education, simulation, primary care, and student co-design.

Christina Ziebart, PT, PhD

Tina Ziebart is an Assistant Professor at Western University in the School of Physical Therapy. She is also a physiotherapist and certified exercise physiologist. Tina has built her career around teaching exercise to people with osteoporosis, both through research and clinically. In research, Tina continues to explore the benefits of exercise in people with osteoporosis.

Jasdeep Dhir, BSc(PT), MCISc(MT), TDPT

Jasdeep Dhir (she/her) is currently the Director of Clinical Education for the Master of Science (physiotherapy) Program and an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science, McMaster University.  She has over 19 years of clinical experience in Orthopaedic physiotherapy. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative physiotherapy and has also earned the Clinical Specialist, Musculoskeletal designation from the Canadian physiotherapy Association.
